Orphan

In the Graveyard Book one of the main characters becomes an orphan, due to the murdering of the rest of his family. The child is named Nobody and later is taken in by two ghosts. Nobody is very lucky in my opinion because there are many kids out there who are orphans, and aren't able to get parents as quick as nobody did. Do you think more kids today are taken in quicker or stay in the orphanages longer? In many other books and movies the protagonist is an orphan for example in the movie Harry Potter and in the story Cinderella. Can you think of any more movies that the main character is an orphan? This is just the start of this book, but it was something that i found interesting.

  1. Well, in Series of Unfortunate Events, the main characters are orphans. And those are pretty depressing books, haha. Good job with your blog. =]

  2. With all the celebrities going baby crazy, I'm guessing that some orphans are getting taken in pretty fast. For your other question, in the movie August Rush the main character is in an orphanage, but eventually finds his long lost parents. It's a good movie, so if you haven't seen it I would check it out.

  3. Ashley, you raise a very interesting question. I agree with with you that Bod is very lucky. Many children in America and across the world are orphans and spend a big part of their life wondering about their parents. Bod has lost his parents, but gained an amazing family in the graveyard. You did an excellant job with your blog.
